Pueblo Nuevo joins United Cup

Reigning Santiago League Champion Pueblo Nuevo from Dominican Republic, has applied to play in the United Cup of Champions. Pueblo Nuevo will replace one of the American clubs from the Universal Basketball Association (UBA). Santiago Basket Titanes Dorado will return as the second Dominican club registered in the United Cup tournament.

"It is a great honor to host a great international event like the United Cup", said Pueblo Nuevo President Hungria Domiguez. It took us a bit of time to finish the deal but now our club will participate in the event. We are very excited and grateful to the board for allowing our club inside the United Cup.

Pueblo Nuevo was named league champions in the Santiago League. Victor Liz (193-SG-86) was named LatinBasket.com All-Santiago League Player of the Year. He was the top scorer with an average of 26.0 points per game.

The 2022 United Cup of Champions will be January 28-31. Each club will play 4 round robin games before the Cup Finals Sunday January 31, 2022.
